Please find attached Meet Rules & Conditions together with Entry Details for the 2010 Irish Long Course National Championships to be held at the National Aquatic Centre, Dublin from 29 April to 2 May 2010. Also attached is the zip file for importing into Hy-tek Team Manager.

Entries should be made with the entry forms supplied. All Entry forms should be posted to Swim Ireland Offices at Sport HQ, including entry fees by cheque, made payable to Swim Ireland.

No entries will be processed unless accompanied by the appropriate entry fee payment.

Joe_Browne_receives_award

The winners of the 2009 National Awards to Volunteers in Irish Sport were announced yesterday at a lunch reception held in Farmleigh, Dublin. Swimming’s very own Joe Browne was one of twelve individuals who was awarded one of these prestigious honours and was presented with his award by Martin Cullen TD, Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism.

Club Children’s Officer Training – a must for all CCO’s and DP’s

The Club Children’s Officer training day is an Irish Sports Council course specifically designed for Club Children’s Officers + Designated Persons building on the Child Protection in Sport workshop (the initial 4 hour training you are all required to attend).

All Swim Ireland Clubs will be required to have one Club Children’s Officer who has attended this course by the end of 2010. 

In order to accommodate as many Swim Ireland Club Children’s Officers as possible ithis course is being run in the following regions::

LEINSTER
Date: SUNDAY 21st March  2010
Venue: Sport HQ, Dublin
Time: 9.30am – 4pm
Cost: €25 including course materials and light lunch
 
CONNAUGHT
Date: Saturday 17th April 2010
Venue: tbc, Galway
Time: 9.30am – 4pm
Cost: €25 including course materials and light lunch

MUNSTER
Date: tbc
Venue: tbc, Mallow
Time: 9.30am – 4pm
Cost: €25 including course materials and light lunch

The course is targeted at Club Children’s Officers and Designated Persons; however any other interested people are also very welcome to attend.  All participants must have completed the four hour Child Protection workshop prior to attending this course.

Clubs should support their Club Children’s Officers and Designated Persons in attending this training as this will give them the information and skills to fulfil their role.

PRESS RELEASE: HIGH PERFORMANCE SPORT: February 17, 2010.

 IRISH SPORTS COUNCIL ANNOUNCES €8.35 MILLION PACKAGE

 16 sports bodies will receive €5.7 million for their high performance plans 

273athletes and 4 teams will receive €2.65 million under the Carding Scheme

Race walker Olive Loughnane, boxer John Joe Nevin and Paralympic cyclist Catherine Walsh were among the 16 sports people awarded contracted status and the top grant of €40,000 following their medal winning performances at World Championships in 2009. The Irish Sports Council’s package of €8.35 million in support for high performance sport in 2010 reflects the strong performances last year and the ambitious plans in each sport for the year ahead.
