Busy Weekend for the Aquatics with Successes in Swimming,Diving and Water Polo

It was a busy weekend for the aquatics with Ireland represented in Canada, USA and the UK in swimming, diving and water polo with some very successful results.

2015 Canadian Intervarsity Sports Swimming Championships

Fiona Doyle finished her college career on a huge high as she swept the board of Breaststroke events at the Canadian Intervarsity Sports Swimming Championships. As well as winning all three events Fiona set three new Irish Records and went under the qualification times for all three for the World Championships in Kazan in August. Doyle’s 100m Breaststroke time was also under the Olympic QT for 2016 with the qualification period opening o March 1st.

To top off a fantastic weekend Fiona was named CIS Female Swimmer of the Year. Full results below.

2015 South East Conference Swimming Championships

Sycerika McMahon was in Alabama with her Texas A&M teammates at the SEC Swimming Championships. The event was run in Yards and so Sycerika’s next opportunity to make World Championship times will be at Canadian Nationals at the beginning of April, she has already qualified in the 50m Breaststroke.

2015 British Gas Diving Championships

Shamrock Diving Club’s Oliver Dingley and Plymouth’s Natasha MacManus both secured medals at the British Gas Diving Championships in Plymouth.

Oliver was second in the Final of the 1m with a score of 388.70 while Natasha won her medal in the 3m Synchro with partner Kayleigh Sinclair in 250.29 points.

2015 British University & Colleges Swimming Championships

Irish swimmers represented in a number of Fnals at the #BUCSNational in Ponds Forge on Saturday and Sunday with 7 top 10 finishes including a Silver Medal for Curtis Coulter in the 100m Freestyle representing Queens, Belfast. Full results below.

ASA Inter Regionals – Water Polo Boys U17

Ireland’s U17 Boys were in fine form as they won the ASA Inter Regionals in Manchester over the weekend. The boys dominated the event with 4 wins and 1 draw and had Kieran O’Reilly named MVP.
