Irish Juniors Ready to Take on the World

  Ireland will be represented by a team of seven swimmers at the FINA World Junior Swimming Championships taking place in Singapore this week, from the 25th – 30th August. Almost 700 young athletes from 87 National Federations take part in the event. Swimmers aged between 14-18 (girls between 14-17, boys between 15-18) are set to compete in the the state-of-the-art OCBC Aquatic Centre, Singapore Sports Hub, which opened its door in 2014. Swim Ireland are delighted to announce details of the 2015 Swim Ireland/American Swim Coaches Association Conference. Masters Swimmers Bring Worlds Medal Tally to 16

Irish Masters Swimmers added to their medal haul as the World Masters Swimming Championships came to an end in Kazan yesterday, bringing the total to 16 including 6 Gold, 7 Silver and 3 Bronze. Deirdre and Dymphna Morris had a fantastic week winning 9 of Ireland’s medals. Irish Masters Claim World Medals

Irish Masters swimmers have increased their medal haul to 4 Gold, 5 Silver and 3 Bronze medals after another hugely successful day at the World Masters Swimming Championships in Kazan, Russia. Patricia Reilly was Ireland’s first Gold medalist of the day in the 50m Breaststroke 55-59 age group where she also set a new Irish record of 39.93. Gibbons, Doran, Lee and Roche Win National Open Water Titles

Swim Ireland’s Inaugural Waterfest took place on Sunday at Coosan Point in Athlone where Open Water 5K, 10K, Mile and 750m events were held for the first time. Brendan Gibbons, Ciara Doran,Rachael Lee and Warren Roche were the first recipients of the Swim Ireland National 5K and 10K Cups. Irish Swimmers at Word Championships

There have been mixed results for Irish swimmers at the World Championships in Kazan this week. Sycerika McMahon and Alex Murphy kicked off the championships in the 200m Individual Medley and 100m Breaststroke respectively. Sycerika  clocked 2:17.88 in the 200IM to place 33rd overall while Alex, making his World Championships debut, posted a time of 1:02.22 in the 100m Breaststroke. Irish swimmers brought the total medal tally to 5 as Ellen Walshe and Conor Ferguson both won Silver on the final day of competition at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Tbilisi, Georgia. Ireland’s swimmers continued their fantastic form at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Tbilisi today with Dubliner’s Niamh Coyne and Ellen Walshe both in Finals action. Walshe has advanced to the 100m Butterfly Final after an outstanding display in the semi-final. Silver Lining for Neamt in 400m Freestyle

Ireland’s Antoinette Neamt has added 400m Freestyle Silver to the 800m Bronze medal she won yesterday at the European Youth Olympics in Tbilisi, Georgia. Neamt put in an impressive performance in this afternoon’s Final in an exciting race with Hungary’s Ajna Kesely. Silver and Bronze for Irish Swimmers at European Youth Olympics

Irish swimmers Conor Ferguson and Antoinette Neamt have won Silver and Bronze medals on Day 2 of the European Youth Olympics in Tbilisi, Georgia. Larne’s Conor Ferguson was Ireland’s first medallist securing Silver in the Final of the 100m Backstroke. 15 year old Ferguson was ranked 2nd going into the Final after he won his semi-final yesterday in 56.61.
