Irish Junior Records fall at curtain call of Irish Short Course Nationals

After a thrilling first two days to the Championship the final day of competition at Lagan Valley Leisureplex had a lot to live up but certainly didn’t disappoint. Records Tumble on Day 2 of Irish Championships

Irish swimmers were in record breaking form on the second night of competition at the Irish Short Course Swimming Championships in Lisburn. Danielle Hill and Gerry Quinn broke Irish Junior records, UCD continued their great form with a second club relay record while Ards ladies joined the party with a relay record of their own. UCD Collect Five Titles on Opening Night of Swimming Championships

UCD Swim Team had an impressive opening night at the Irish Short Course Swimming Championships in Lisburn collecting five titles and breaking the 400m Medley Relay Irish Club Record.  Jane Roberts was the first UCD Gold medallist when she won a thrilling 50m Backstroke Final, Roberts held off Larne’s Danielle Hill (29.24) and Sundays Well Issie Hayes (29.40), to claim Gold in 29.16 seconds. Irish SC Swimming Championships

The spotlight will be on Lagan Valley Leisureplex, Lisburn this weekend for the Irish National Short Course (25m) Swimming Championships with Ireland’s top swimmers competing for national titles. Competition will take place from Friday 4th to Sunday 6th December with 63 teams and over 400 swimmers in action in the first National Championships of the 2015/16 swimming season. Alex Murphy Wins European Bronze; Breaks Irish Record

Ireland’s Alex Murphy has claimed a superb Bronze medal in the 50m Breaststroke on the first day of competition at the European Short Course (25m) Swimming Championships in Netanya, Israel. 20 year old Murphy progressed from this morning’s heats in a time of 26.51 seconds to secure a place in the semi-final. Murphy Qualifies for Breaststroke Semi-Final

Alex Murphy has qualified for the 50m Breaststroke Semi-Final on the first day of competition at the European SC Swimming Championships in Israel. Murphy swam a personal best 26.51 seconds to win the last heat of the morning and progressed to this evenings semi-final in 3rd place. Three NUIG students David Dowling, Alannah eonard and Eoghan Grady received their NUIG & Swim Ireland Connacht Performance Centre Swimming Scholarships awards at a ceremony held on Monday 9th November in the historical Aula Maxim in NUIG. Irish Open Diving Championship 2015 – 10th Anniversary

Top Divers from Across Europe arrive for Swim Ireland’s Irish Open Diving Championships

The event also marks an important milestone for Irish diver Oliver Dingley in what will be his first competition after officially qualifying to represent the nation.
