It is a requirement of FINA, that Members of Affiliated Clubs proposing to train or compete in another country, obtain a Permit from their National Governing Body, before leaving the Country. The details of the requirements, binding on all members of FINA can be found on the FINA Web site www.fina.org – General Rules GR2, GR3 & GR 4 apply.
Anyone intending to train or compete abroad should therefore make application to Swim Ireland at least 28 days prior to the date of departure, outlining the arrangements. All applications need to be made by completing the International Permit Form & sending it through to the Development Team at Swim Ireland, Sport HQ, National Sports Campus, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15 or sent to your Regional Development Officer at the e-mail address shown on the Swim Ireland web site: www.swimireland.ie

Q. What is required from a member/club/squad who is wishing to compete or train abroad?
A. Members, groups of members or affiliated clubs wishing to compete or train in countries outside Ireland must apply for permission to do so by completing an International Permit and Clearance Form. Download the International Permit Form or contact your Regional Development Officer. Please remember to apply for an International Permit at least 28 days before leaving the country.
Q. Do team staff require any training before taking club members away?
A. Key members of staff should have attended a Team Manager Training course before taking any club members away. All staff should have completed the Basic Code of Ethics/Child Protection course. Further information on Team Manger Training can be found on the website.
Q. Do team staff require a Garda Vetting check?
A. Yes, all team staff are required to have submitted Garda Vetting forms.
Q. How will we know if a Permit has been approved?
A. A approved copy of the Permit application will be emailed back to the club secretary
