Ireland Team Set to Compete at Schools Games
Ireland will be represented by a 15 strong team at the Sainsbury’s 2015 School Games which start on Saturday. Swimming at the Games will take place at the Manchester Aquatics Centre over two days with over 150 swimmers competing. Eight teams will compete in the 2015 Games representing Ireland, England North, England Central, England East, England South, Scotland North & West, Scotland South & East and Wales.
Ireland has a number of junior internationals on the squad with Issie Hayes and Mona McSharry having competed at the European Games in Baku and Ellen Walshe, Jack McMillan, Rebecca Reid and Robbie Powell returning to the pool after the European Youth Olympic Festival in July. Ellen Walshe will be one to watch after the 13 year old from Templeogue Swim Team set a new Irish Junior Record on her way to a Silver medal in the 100m Butterfly at the European Youth Olympics.
