Irish Open Long Course Masters Championship Gala

The 2015 Irish Open Long Course Masters Championship gala will be held at the UL Arena 50m swimming pool in Limerick this weekend on Friday and Saturday 6th and 7th of March.

This year there will be 350 participants in the event with representations from five countries including Spain, Italy, Greece and the UK in addition to clubs from all parts of Ireland, north and south. This is the largest number of competitors to attend the event which has grown year on year for more than ten years.

The gala will commence on Friday at 7.30 with the 1500m freestyle event. The sixty entrants include Norma Cahill from Ennis Masters who will be attempting to set a new European record in her category.

The main program commences at 9.00am  Saturday morning with a full program of events up to 6.00pm. As in previous years the Kearney Perpetual Cup for the 1,500m freestyle, the Limerick Masters SC Perpetual Cup for the 50m freestyle and an additional trophy the Neylon Perpetual Trophy for the 50m Breaststroke will be awarded to the swimmer who is nearest to the world record in their respective age group.
