Cathal Brugha Girls & Corrib Boys Claim Irish U15 Cups

The photo records the first time ever that two Ulster sides contested the final and Cathal Brugha were the first ever Ulster winners of the Championship.

Cathal Brugha Girls came out victorious in Leisureland, Galway with a Final score of 11-6.

Corrib WPC won the Boy's Irish U15 Cup beating Clontarf SC 9 – 8.

May saw the final National Cup of the year going to Corrib WPC. The U/13 Mixed Cup took place in the NAC, Dublin on the 19th & 20th May with Corrib WPC beating Cathal Brugha in the final.

Irish Senior Ladies & Men Compete in EU Nations

On the 24th May the Irish Senior Ladies team travelled to the Women's EU Nations Tournament in Brno, Czech Republic. The team lined out as follows:

The first match of the tournament saw Ireland take on Belgium in a close match finishing in a 15-15 draw. Our ladies then went on to play Wales where they won 13-4 with our very own Mairead Baker claimed MVP in that match. There was no stopping the team as they then went on to claim victory, 8-7 against South Africa and another MVP award, this time for Laura Murphy.

Ireland topped Group A with their wins over South Africa and Wales and a draw versus Belgium to make the semi-final where they lost out to Switzerland, eventually finishing in 4th place overall.

The National Senior Men’s Team travelled to Prague, Czech Republic on the 18th May for the annual EU Nations Tournament. The team lined out as follows:

With losses to Belgium and Singapore in their opening games, Ireland bounced back in game three to claim a 14 – 6 victory against Wales. Having picked up the pace Ireland then went on to play South Africa where a last minute goal saw SA take an 11-10 victory.

The final match of the tournament, against the Czech Republic, sawour boys in green losing 9-12 after another tough game. 

National Team selections have been made for the upcoming U15 ASA Tournaments in the UK.
