Olympic Focus Squad Set to Compete at Arena Pro Swim Series in Orlando

The Swim Ireland 2016 Olympic Focus Squad will today depart for Orlando, Florida to compete in the Arena Pro Swim Series after an 11 day training camp based in Tampa, Florida.

The camp which was led by Head Coach Peter Banks and assisted by Paul Donovan, was attended by seven members of the Olympic Focus Squad; Christopher Bryan (ULSPC/Ennis S.C), Brendan Hyland (NAC PC/Tallaght S.C), Bethany Carson (NAC PC/Lisburn S.C), Antoinette Neamt (NAC PC/Tallaght), Jordan Sloan (Bangor S.C), Dan Sweeney (Loughborough University/Sundays Well S.C), and Nicholas Quinn (Edinburgh University/Castlebar S.C). The team was also joined by Scotland’s 2014 Commonwealth Gold Medallist Hannah Miley. With specialists from the 200m freestyle to the 10km making for a hugely dynamic group, the team worked exceptionally well together to build on their intensive winter training towards the upcoming qualification meets.

The three-day meet in Orlando (February 12th-14th) serves as the third stop of the 2014-15 Arena Pro Swim Series and will see winners of 19 Olympic gold medals and 39 World Championship gold medals represented at the meet. Top 8 performances will be targeted throughout from Swim Ireland’s Olympic Focus Squad. The Squad will return to their home programmes on Sunday February 15th, until their next engagement at the Irish Long Course National Championships from April 30th.
