5 Irish Swimmers Announced on Commonwealth Youth Games Squad

Five Irish Swimmers were announced today by the Northern Ireland Commonwealth Games Council to represent Northern Ireland at the Youth Commonwealth Games in Samoa in September. Danielle Hill, Rachel Bethel, Emma Reid and James Brown who are all currently competing at the European Games in Baku along with Conor Ferguson who is preparing for European Youth Olympic Games were selected for the team that will compete from the 5th – 11th September. Ireland Relay into European Final; Bethel and Reid Advance to Semi’s

Team Ireland swimmers had an exciting morning in the pool on Day 3 of the European Games in Baku. As the Women’s Medley Relay qualified for the Final both Rachel Bethel and Emma Reid progressed to semi-final’s in their events. Brown 16th in Medley Semi-Final

James Brown has finished in 16th place overall in the semi-final of the 200m Individual Medley at the European Games in Baku. Having swam a lifetime best in this morning’s heats of 2:06.55 the Ards SC swimmer was unable to match that time in the semi-final touching in 2:07.15. James Brown Progresses to European Games 200m Medley Semi-Final

Ireland’s James Brown has progressed to the semi-final in the 200m Individual Medley on the second day of competition at the European Games in the Baku Aquatics Centre. Brown swam a new lifetime best in this morning’s heats of 2:06.55 knocking half of a second off his previous best of 2:07.02 set in March this year. McSharry 15th, Reid 14th in European Games Semi-Finals

Ireland’s Mona McSharry and Emma Reid were both in semi-final action on the opening day of competition at the European Games in Baku after they qualified form this morning heats in the 50m Breaststroke and 200m Butterfly. Having swum a best time of 32.84 in the 50m Breaststroke this morning Mona McSharry could not improve on that time finishing in 33 seconds in the semi-final, the time placed her 15th overall. McSharry & Reid Make European Games Semi Finals

Ireland’s swimmers had an impressive first morning in the pool at the European Games in Baku with two swimmers progressing to semi-finals. Mona McSharry was first up in the heats of the 50m Breaststroke. 14 year old McSharry, competing at her first international championships, blazed through the swim clocking an impressive 32.84 and knocking almost a second off her previous best. Swimmers Set for European Games

A 12 strong Irish swimming team will begin competition tomorrow, Tuesday, at the 1st European Games in Baku.  The team, led by Pearse McGuigan (Swim Ireland Connacht Performance Centre Coach) and assisted by Peter Hill (Larne ASC), will compete from the 23rd – 28th June at the Baku Aquatics Centre, 526 swimmers will compete in a total of 42 events.  The Games are doubling up in 2015 as the LEN European Junior Swimming Championships with eligible age groups 17‐18 for [...]

Natasha MacManus 10th in European Games Final

Natasha MacManus finished 10th overall in the 3m Springboard Final at Baku 2015 yesterday. Following a score of 358.20 points in the preliminary round, MacManus upped her game in the Final to secure an impressive score of 381.50 placing her ahead of Croatia’s Maja Boric and Italy’s Laura Granelli.
