Relay through to Final and four swimmers into Semi-Finals at Europeans

Irish swimmers kept their good form going as our mixed medley relay cruised into the Final and four are through to semi-finals on the penultimate day of competition at the European Junior Swimming Championships in Hungary. Medallists from earlier this week Mona McSharry and Conor Ferguson along with record breaker Gerry Quinn and Danielle Hill will all be in action tonight after securing their places in the 100m Breaststroke, 50m Backstroke, 200m Freestyle and 100m Backstroke events. Quinn sets third Irish record, 7th in Freestyle Final; McSharry 6th in Breaststroke Final

Ireland’s junior swimmers continued their impressive form at the European Junior Swimming Championships in Hungary this evening. Ireland already has two medallists at these championships in Mona McSharry and Conor Ferguson. Conor Ferguson has claimed Irelands second medal at the Junior European Swimming Championships in Hungary tonight winning Silver in the 100m Backstroke Final, as last night’s Bronze medal winner Mona McSharry and Gerry Quinn progressed from their respective semi-finals to tomorrow’s Finals. Mona McSharry Claims European Bronze Medal; Conor Ferguson through to Backstroke Final

Ireland’s Mona McSharry has won a European Bronze medal on the opening night of competition at the European Junior Swimming Championships in Hungary. The 15 year old Sligo native who swims with Marlins SC in Donegal joins Olympians Grainne Murphy and Sycerika McMahon as a European Junior medallist after placing third in tonight’s 50m Breaststroke Final. Irish Junior Swimmers Set for European Stage

A 12 strong Irish swimming team will begin competition tomorrow, Wednesday, at the LEN European Junior Swimming Championships.  The team, led by Brian Sweeney as head coach and assisted by Peter Hill (Larne ASC), will compete from the 6th – 10th July at the Dezso Gyarmati Swimming Pool in Hódmezővásárhely, Hungary.  Eligible age groups for the competition are 16‐18 for men and 15‐17 for women. 740 swimmers from 47 countries will compete in a total of 42 events. 11 Irish [...]

Four Announced to Paralympics Ireland Swim Team for Rio

Paralympics Ireland today announced four swimmers to the team that will represent Ireland at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Ellen Keane will return for her third Games with James Scully attending his second.
