Safer Internet Day – 11th February 2014

Safer Internet Day 2014 will take place on 11th February 2014, with the theme ‘Let’s create a better internet together’.

Webwise is leading the Safer Internet Campaign in Ireland for this UK based project.  We are all fully aware of the global nature of the internet where, unlike face to face contact, social media messages, images and information follow us around in our daily lives.  This is the same for young people today – and we must understand how to make sure their experiences are positive and rewarding.

Safer Internet Day offers the opportunity to focus on both the creative things that children and young people are doing online, as well as the role and responsibility that all stakeholders have in helping to create a better internet.

Safer Internet Day is organised each year to promote the safe and responsible use of online technology and mobile phones for children and young people.

www.WatchYourSpace.ie, the Webwise site specifically aimed at teens, is currently being updated and will be re-launched on the day.
