Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is an essential element of being a successful Swimming Coach. It is vital to keep up to date with the most current practices and thinking in relation to swimming and aquatics.
CPD helps with career progression and advancement, broadening your knowledge and equipping you with the skills to specialise in specific areas.
It also provides confidence and credibility by ensuring the professional standard of Swim Ireland qualifications are at a consistently high level.
Licensing helps raise, maintain and regulate standards of practice and help professionalise certain aspects and areas within the aquatics.
It also helps Swim Ireland reward and recognise those working within swimming, both as volunteers and paid professionals, for their achievement of qualifications.
Licensing is renewed annually and the following are required to maintain a coach license:
- Swim Ireland Associate or Club Membership
- Read and accept the Teacher/Coach Code of Conduct on the Swim Ireland Membership Database
- A passport sized ID photograph uploaded to the membership profile on the Swim Ireland Database
- Vetting through Swim Ireland or Swim Ulster for Access NI (depending on the jurisdiction of where you are operating)
- Sport Ireland/Sport NI Safeguarding Level 1
