Robbie Powell got the final day of racing at the European Junior Championships underway this morning with a 23.47 second swim in the 50m Freestyle to advance to the event semi-final.

Powell, who swam the 100m Freestyle semi-final on Friday, is ranked 12th into the semi-final which takes place at 3pm. The 18-year-old has a best time of 23.26 and will looking to dip under that this evening to make the final at 4.15pm.

Also in action tonight, Niamh Coyne will swim the 100m Breaststroke Final after progressing from yesterday’s semi-final in second place.

Today also saw Cadan McCarthy swim a personal best 4:31.43 in the 400m Individual Medley with Alfie Kelly in the same heat touching in 4:39.37.  Jack McMillan concluded his championships with a 24.01 swim in the 50m Freestyle and Ellen Walshe in the 50m Butterfly in 28.34.

The morning finished with Victoria Catterson, Julia Knox, Naomi Trait and Maria Godden combining for the 4 x 200m Freestyle Relay to finish in 8:24.36 for fifth place in their heat and tenth overall.
