The Swim Ireland Regional Pathway Development Coaches will be running a series of clinics for coaches, and athletes and parents during 2021. These will focus on technical development and supporting athlete progression.
These clinics are part of the Club Cluster Development Plan that was launched in 2019 and the Regional Pathway Development Coaches will normally communicate registration and log in details directly via the clubs.
Participation is free of charge to current Swim Ireland members and coaches will receive 1 CPD point for attendance at the Coach Clinics.
Coach Clinics – Transitioning from Swim Skills to Training to Train (1 CPD Point)
This clinic is designed for coaches working with athletes aged 10-13 years, and Head Coaches responsible for indirectly overseeing the development of these athletes.
We will explore the priorities of development during the Training to Train stage of the LTAD model and discuss strategies for assisting young athletes as they transition from Swim Skills, ensuring there is a continued emphasis on realizing their potential.
Dates:
Tuesday, March 23 at 19:00 – open to all coaches
Thursday, March 25 at 20:00 – open to all coaches
Athlete & Parent Clinics – The Rocky Road to The Top
This clinic is designed for athletes aged 10-13 years and their parents. We will explore the complex nature of realising athletic potential, discuss the Rocky Road and how to build bumps into the road as development tools.
Dates:
Saturday, March 27 at 10:30 – open to all swimmers aged 10-13 registered with a Swim Ireland club and their parents
Wednesday, March 31 at 19:30 – open to all swimmers aged 10-13 registered with a Swim Ireland club and their parents

Technical Theory Clinics – Backstroke to Breaststroke Transition Turn
This clinic is designed for athletes aged 10-13 years and their coaches. We will explore the Backstroke to Breaststroke Transition Turn, discussing the variations and looking at ways to increase speed around the wall.
