Funding available to support coach and teacher education

Following the drawdown of resilience funding by clubs in 2022, a small amount of money remained unclaimed by clubs. Swim Ireland have received permission from Sport Ireland to reallocate this funding and provide education funding in 2023. For ease of access this is being provided as course discounts.
This has been broken down as follows:

Requirements for Coaching/ Teaching Courses:
- Must be identified by club committee (including head coach).
- At least 18 years of age.
- Minimum of 2 years membership with club.
- Active vetting and safeguarding credentials in place.
- One discount per club is available in this category.
Requirements for Tutor Training:
- Minimum of Level 2 Coaching qualification (Swimming or Water Polo).
- At least 20 years of age.
- Separate application process for tutor training which must be passed.
- Must be available to complete course in 2023.

Requirements for RLSS courses:
Swim Ireland are seeking eight pilot clubs to introduce lifesaving training and skills as a method of retaining young people for longer. Clubs should be able to provide 1 hour per week for lifesaving training from September 2023 onwards. Swim Ireland will provide funding support to upskill one coach per club to deliver this programme in partnership with the RLSS. Clubs may register an expression of interest by emailing their club support officer.
