It was a busy morning at the Foro Italico as both Irish swimmers and divers were in action. Clare Cryan opened the European Diving Championships for Ireland advancing in the 1M Springboard while Mona McSharry progresses to another semi-final in swimming.
In 32-degree heat, Clare Cryan had a composed round of five dives to qualify for this afternoon’s 2pm Final on the 1M Springboard. Cryan scored consistently across the rounds with her best score, 50.40, coming in her opening Inward 1 ½ Somersaults, to progress eighth overall with 230.40 points.
Mona McSharry is through to a third semi-final on the penultimate day of racing in swimming.
The Tokyo Olympian has already made finals in both the 100m and 200m Breaststroke and this morning advanced in the 50m, placing fourth in her heat and eleventh overall in 31.41.
Also, in action this morning, Shane Ryan (23.08) and Max McCusker (23.58) swam the 50m Freestyle heats while Eoin Corby (2:05.78) and Liam Custer (2:06.66) competed in the 200m Individual Medley.
