European Youth Olympic Festival medallist Molly Mayne has earned five new Irish Junior Records in the past six weeks.
The 16-year-old, based at Hamilton Aquatics in Dubai, won two bronze medals in 100m and 200m Breaststroke at EYOF in Baku in 2019, but her progress was then halted by the pandemic.
That was until this winter, where she made an impressive debut against international senior company at the LEN European Short Course Swimming Championships in Kazan in November.
She earned her very first Irish Junior Record there, swimming 27.54 in 50m Butterfly to narrowly better the record set by Tokyo 2020 Olympian Ellen Walshe in 2017.
Since then she has taken four more records, bettering times set by Tokyo 2020 Olympians Mona McSharry and Ellen Walshe, and Kilkenny's Naomi Trait.
Jack Cassin also gained his first Irish Junior Record this month, swimming 4:19.58 in 400m Individual Medley to beat the record previously set by Cadan McCarthy
