Northern Ireland’s Danielle Hill had a morning to remember as she made her Birmingham 2022 debut and advanced to two semi-finals this evening.

Hill progresses in the 50m Freestyle and 100m Backstroke after top eight finishes in both.

In the 50m Freestyle, the 22-year-old was just one tenth of a second off her Irish Record of 25.19 touching in 25.29, her second fastest time ever in the event. The Larne swimmer was third in her heat and sixth overall.

In a very impressive turnaround time, Hill was back in the pool 20 minutes later for the 100m Backstroke heats, where she secured a second semi-final place in 1:01.85 and was eighth overall.

Hill returns for the 50m Freestyle at 19.18 and 100m Backstroke Semi-Final at 20.22.

Not only will Hill swim the two semi-finals, but she is also named in the line up for the Women’s 4x100m Freestyle Relay Final at 21.26 where Victoria Catterson, Grace Davison and Mollie McAlorum will join her.

Also, in action today, Jack McMillan was just .07 of a second shy of qualifying for the 200m Freestyle final, finishing ninth overall in 1:48.41. McMillan is first reserve for this evening’s final. Grace Davison and Mollie McAlorum competed in the women’s 50m Freestyle heats with Davison touching in 27.08 and McAlorum in 27.15.
