County Sligo Swimming Club (CSSC) are seeking a Head Coach (Level 3) who will continue to develop and lead established competitive and non-competitive programmes and swimming squads.

Location: Sligo Regional Sports Centre, Cleveragh, Co. Sligo

Start date: September 2021

Hours: 18.75 Coaching hours per week (+ administration) and attendance at competitions and events

Reporting to: CSSC Committee

Salary: Renumeration will reflect level and experience.

CSSC is based in Sligo Regional Sports Complex and is one of Connacht’s premier swimming clubs.

We are a competitive swimming club with 128 members and take an active role in the vibrant Irish swimming scene, competing at local, national and international level.

The Head Coach will carry out such duties as are assigned by the CSSC Committee including:

▪ To provide a positive and safe environment for all CSSC Members

▪ To deliver a technical programme for competitive swimmers, following Swim Ireland LTAD (Long Term Athlete Development Plan)

▪ Manage the CSSC Coaching Team to deliver the coaching programme

▪ Have an understanding and be aware of CSSC Training Group movement criteria

▪ Ensure all swimmers, at all levels, are coached and trained to meet their full potential

▪ To be a positive role model, creating a positive environment in which to motivate and encourage member to participate in swim sessions

▪ Evaluate sessions and give feedback

▪ Travel to competitions and events as agreed with Committee

▪ Support the Club and the Committee in its efforts to ensure financial security

▪ Attend continuing education offerings for swimming coaches.


▪ Hard working and passionate about swimming

▪ Have a strong understanding of stroke mechanics and training principles

▪ Excellent interpersonal skills

▪ Strong leadership and communication skills

▪ Excellent prioritisation, organisational and problem-solving skills

▪ Must be self-motivated with the ability to enthuse a wide range of participants

▪ Ability to manage the Coaching Team effectively

▪ Ability to manage a group of participants effectively

▪ Team player with the ability to collaborate.


▪ Minimum of Swim Ireland Level 2 Swimming Coach (or equivalent). Swim Ireland Level 3 Swimming Coach qualification (or equivalent) is preferable

▪ Swim Ireland or Sport Ireland Safeguarding Level 1 Certificate

▪ Garda vetted Swim Ireland

▪ Swim Ireland coach license
