St Fiacc’s Swimming Club in Carlow wishes to recruit a new Head Coach to lead our coaching team and to develop and lead our competitive swimming squads.

ABOUT OUR ST FIACC'S SWIMMING CLUB

We have approximately 140 members, competitive swimmers and Masters, and our base facility is in Graiguecullen, Carlow, with additional sessions taking place in K Leisure, Athy. In addition, we also run a weekly Learn to Swim Programme.

Our aim is to develop and nurture swimmers at all levels to their maximum potential in a safe, positive environment. Our swimmers compete at Local, Regional and National level.

HOURS: 14 Coaching hours per week and attendance at competitions and events.

SALARY: Renumeration will reflect level and experience, circa €23K with expenses for galas and events

STARTING DATE: October 2021

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Swim Ireland Level 2 Coaching Qualification;
  • Up to date Swim Ireland/Sport Ireland Safeguarding Level 1;
  • Up to date vetting through Swim Ireland
  • Current Swim Ireland coaches’ licence

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Hard working and passionate about swimming;
  • Self-motivated with the ability to motivate others
  • Good planning and organisational skills;
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills - must be willing to mentor developing coaches
  • Strong understanding of the technical aspects of strokes, starts & turns;
  • A proven track record of developing swimmers to compete at a high level;
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills;
  • Team player with the ability to collaborate.

MAIN DUTIES:

  • To deliver a technical programme for competitive swimmers, following Swim Ireland Long Term Athlete Development Plan;
  • Evaluate swimmers and give feedback;
  • Prepare and deliver session plans for squads in conjunction with club plans;
  • Attend competitions and events;
  • Produce and deliver an annual coaching and competition plan for squads;
  • To act as a positive role model for our swimmers.
  • Comply with Swim Ireland safeguarding young people policies and procedures and St Fiacc’s SC constitution and handbook;
  • Ensure your Swim Ireland coach licence is kept up to date and attend continuing education offerings to swimming coaches;
  • Attend committee meetings and assist with planning and club operation.
  • Liaise with and act as point of contact with the Regional Development Pathway Coach.
