Women in Sport
May 16, 2018
Swim Ireland are delighted to offer a Level 1 (Blended) Coaching Course through our Women in Sport Programme funded by Sport Ireland. Irish and global sport has previously and presently experienced a lack of female coaches on its side lines, therefore Swim Ireland are seeking Irish female swimmers over the age of 16 years, who would like to gain qualifications in coaching. This course is a bespoke version of the typical Swim Ireland Level 1 Coaching Course, enabling candidates to access mentoring from current, prominent female coaches across Ireland.
The course involves blend of online training and face to face. The online training is completed ahead of the face to face classroom and pool elements, which will take place at The National Aquatic Centre and Sport HQ in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15. This bespoke course then incorporates a mentoring aspect once candidates have achieved their qualification. The course will run from Monday 18th to Thursday the 21st of June 2018 (10am – 4pm TBC) at a discounted cost of €125. The course timetable has been designed around usual training times to cater for swimmer’s schedules. The days will involve two hours of coaching and two to three hours of classroom work per day.
Participants will be required to:
- Complete the online training (6 - 8 hours) prior to Thursday the 14th of June
- Complete Garda Vetting/Access NI and a Level 1 Safeguarding Course (3 hours).
- Participate in the mentoring aspect of the programme
- Attend 3 Swim Ireland Coaching Clinics as a support coach after completing the Level 1 qualification
