Mallow Swans Swimming Club have had a long, unwanted break from training, along with so many other clubs right across the country. Thankfully, with the guidance of Sport Ireland and Swim Ireland, we can put the measures in place to allow our swimmers back in the pool.

There has been a huge effort from the Complex management and staff, as well as our Head Coach, Dee, and our hard-working Committee, to coordinate this.

Fortunately for us here in Mid-Munster, we also have a fantastic Outdoor Activity Centre, with an open-water swim area along with a supervised dedicated swim area, just a few kilometres from Mallow.

Ballyhass Mallow Activity Centre was one of the first facilities to be allowed to open during the re-opening of the Country following the Lockdown, and this allowed at least some swimmers to get back in the water again. Some of our past and present senior swimmers helped and we would like to thank Mark (Coach), Léan, Laoise, David, Jessica, Stella, Fiona, Lucy and Caoimhe.

As guidelines and advice became clearer, we were able to train indoors in our more familiar surroundings. We have started back with limited numbers initially, in line with Swim Ireland's guidelines, with the older squads. While it has all changed from just a few months ago, it is great to see them back training indoors again.

We remain hopeful to be able to bring back some, if not all, of the younger swimmers in the other squads later in the year. Our swimmers' and staff safety is of upmost importance, and with a united agenda, we can do this!
