June 25, 2021

Templeogue’s Ellen Walshe on Friday morning set a new Irish Senior Record of 2:13.17 in 200m Individual Medley at the Swim Ireland Performance Meet, her second such record at this meet.

On Thursday night Walshe had gone 59.32 in the 100m Butterfly Final, lowering her own record in that event, and went on to take Grainne Murphy's long-standing 200m Individual Medley record at the Sport Ireland National Aquatic Centre in the day two heats.

In the Men’s 200m Individual Medley, Ethan Hansen lowered Eoin Corby’s Irish Junior Record (2:04.61) to 2:04.11.

Cookstown swimmer Calum Bain was looking for an Olympic Consideration Time in the Men’s 50m Freestyle and opened his bid with 22.46 - just 0.35s slower than the FINA 'A' time for Tokyo 2020.

National Centre Limerick’s Finn McGeever posted 23.88 in that event, after clocking 4:09.04 the Men’s 400m Freestyle. He is the Irish Senior Record holder in 400m Freestyle and will be a key player in tonight’s final.

In the Women’s 400m Freestyle, Trojan swimmer Grace Hodgins swam 4:30.50 and in the Women’s 200m Backstroke, Enniskillen’s Cora Rooney was fastest touching in 2:22.91,

The 400m Individual Medleys saw Amelia Kane come in just over the 5-minute mark, in 5:00.62 and Cillian Melly in 4:34.86.
