Review of Coach/ Teacher Licensing

Swim Ireland have recently undertaken a review of Coach/ Teacher CPD and Licensing. Feedback received in our survey and focus groups indicated an update on the licensing process is needed.

One of the first steps in this is the pricing structure of coach/ teacher licensing, which we are delighted to share with you today.

We are re-aligning the licensing period to a calendar year so all licenses will expire on 31 December annually.

Thank you to all the coaches and teachers who have engaged with us over the last couple of months as we have reviewed the licensing process, your feedback and suggestions have been very helpful.

When deciding on this re-alignment period we also had several other factors to consider which are outlined below:

• A planned upgrade is currently underway on the JustGo membership database. When this is complete the license renewal process will be simplified.
• Reducing the price to €5 initially presents a more equitable way of providing value to all Swim Ireland coaches and teachers over the next 18 months.
• Swim Ireland clubs renew their club and member affiliation in September annually. This traditionally presents challenges when clubs attempt to renew coaches without a license in place.
• One renewal date for all coaches and swim teachers makes it easy to remember each year.
• The Education team can develop and publish an annual calendar across all disciplines and levels, from January-December, to support coaches and teachers attend CPD that they are interested in. There is still a considerable amount of work to do within the CPD review process. This will continue through 2022 and 2023.
