Dermot Higgins is taking on a 24 hour marathon Swim to help raise funds and awareness for Pieta's Resilience Academy. Having battled with depression for the past 15 years, Dermot found great support in Pieta House.

And now, he wants to give something back - The Big Swim for Pieta House!

This Challenge will take place on New Year’s Eve & Day at the Gym Plus Pool, Swords, Co.Dublin and at pools all over the country. It’s being organised by Dermot and a team of volunteers in collaboration with Pieta House. They hope to raise at least €100,000 for the charity through the challenge.

The funds raised will go to support Pieta's Resilience Academy programme which is aimed at equipping Secondary School students with emotional resilience tools.

Several hundred other swimmers will be supporting the event by swimming shorter distances in their local pools, either on the day of the event or afterwards.
