Qualify as a Swim Ireland Level 3 Head Swimming Coach in 2021

March 26, 2021

Swim Ireland's Education Department is thrilled to announce the return of our Level 3 Head Swimming Coach Qualification – delivered for the first time in our Virtual Classroom.

This 8-week course will cover 10 units, ranging from athlete development to exercise physiology, nutrition, psychology, planning for performance and much more, delving deep into the roles and responsibilities of a Level 3 Head Swimming Coach.

Ex-international swimmer Bethany Carson, who is now an assistant coach at Swim Ireland's National Centre Dublin, believes one of the best parts about achieving this qualification is the coaching network she joined on the course, that still helps her today.

"Coming up as a competitive swimmer, I knew I was passionate about swimming, but I never thought I would become a coach!" she says. "I worked my way through Swim Ireland's coaching qualifications as I swam, so I could coach on various Swim Ireland programmes, then I realised just how much I loved coaching and helping people to improve and reach their goals!

"Completing the Level 3 Head Swimming Coach qualification gave me the confidence and knowledge I needed to become a coach. The best part for me was learning more about season planning and entering a coaching network with others on the course, who I still communicate with today!"
