In July we are celebrating FINA World Aquatics Day with two great swim events in Aughris in Sligo and Belmullet in Mayo. Up for it? Scroll down!

Aughris Pier Swim

Supporting Sligo Hospital Oncology Unit

Sunday, July 18

Take to the crystal clear waters off Aughris Pier for one of the most scenic swims available in Sligo! This is an early morning swim, with three distance options, and a maximum of 50 participants in each distance.

The swim will take place on a 750m triangular circuit. Each participant will receive a swim hat, bag, and participation medal on the day. A percentage of the proceeds will be donated to Sligo Hospital Oncology Unit (SHOUT).

Before you book:

  1. You must be 18 years or older to swim the 1500m and 2.25km events
  2. 16 and 17-year-olds are eligible to take part in the 750m
  3. Please make sure you are capable of swimming the distance.
  4. Tow floats are essential, no tow float = no swim.
  5. Wetsuits are recommended but are not essential for this event.

Swim the Wild Atlantic Way with Swim Ireland and Mayo Sports Partnership at the iconic Belmullet! Our Open Water Programmes at this swimming mecca's tidal pool have been unbelievably popular, and last year our Belmullet Swim was truly epic. This is an evening swim, with three distance options, and a maximum of 50 participants in each distance. Each swim is point-to-point and will follow a beautiful route parallel to the shore, finishing at the docks. Each participant will receive a swim hat, bag, and participation medal on the day.

Before you book:

  1. You must be 18 years or older to take part in the 2.5km and Mile events
  2. Swimmers aged 16 and 17 may take part in the Half Mile swim
  3. Please make sure you are capable of swimming the distance.
  4. Tow floats are essential, no tow float = no swim.
  5. Wetsuits are recommended but are not essential for this event.
