New Partnership with RLSS for Drowning Prevention Week
Swim Ireland are excited to announce that we will be supporting the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) Drowning Prevention Week this year. Drowning Prevention Week runs from Friday 12th June – Friday 19th June, aiming to help everybody across Ireland and the UK #BeALifesaver and take charge of their own decisions to enjoy the water, safely.
This fits closely with our own brand - Me and the Water - where we recognise everyone has their own relationship with the water - and as the National Governing Body for Aquatics on the island of Ireland - we want everyone to develop that relationship with the water in a safe way.
With the impact of COVID-19, and pools and schools still closed, this year is a positive effort to give our members, individuals and families the skills and knowledge they require to enjoy the water, safely.
We are therefore inviting our partners, members, clubs and communities to share the importance of this message, not only with your swimmers but also your friends, families and wider communities through the power of social media and virtual connections.
The RLSS have produced a wide variety of e-learning, activities and resources, which Swim Ireland will share, and there will be a drive on social media presence over the week.

These resources will be complemented by the release of new qualifications, webinars, videos, competitions and announcements throughout the week, along with some interesting Instastories take overs and announcements from our athletes, and other familiar faces around the importance of learning to swim and staying safe around water. Our Learn to Swim programme will empower and inspire your child to challenge themselves on their own personal journey of learning to swim. So if you want to be a lifesaver and give your child the gift of learning to swim - check out our Learn to Swim partners and book yourself in to a Swim Ireland accredited swim school for swimming lessons.
Boys+Girls and Swim Ireland release hard-hitting video during Drowning Prevention Week.
As part of Drowning Prevention Week, an initiative of the Royal Life Saving Society which Swim Ireland have partnered on this year, we have worked with Boys&Girls to create a campaign that takes on greater significance this summer, as more people than ever are visiting Irish beaches due to the fact that Covid-19 has caused the closure of supervised swimming pools and has restricted international travel.
