Swim Ireland Tutor Training Programme 2019

If you have what it takes to be an inspiring facilitator, who can train Swim Ireland Coaches’ and Teachers’ to think, check out our Tutor Training Programme 2019 that is running in Ulster!   

Swim Ireland would like to ensure that all those wishing to take part are 100% sure that this programme is right for them. We will work to support you through the programme as much as possible and encourage you to be in touch with the Education Department if you have any further questions.

The Tutor Training Programme is highly competitive and we have had significant interest registered with the Education Department over the last 12 months. The maximum number of candidates for the Tutor Training Programme is 16, working with 2 full-time Principal Tutors. Swim Ireland staff and other selected Swim Ireland Tutors will also be involved in the delivery of this course. The course will be run in Ulster at a variety of venues across the province

Please read through all of the various stages of the course and be aware that the first step will be to register your interest through the Swim Ireland Database, with a payment of €50 and submission of an Application Form to the event. Please complete this form and send it by email to Joni Harding no later than 12.00pm 29th March.

Your application will be assessed and you will then be informed if you have been accepted to attend the Selection Day on 5th April.  You will be advised no later than 6.00pm on Monday 1st April if your application has been successful to attend the Selection Day.   Please note your €50 is an application fee and should you be successful in gaining a place on the Swim Ireland Tutor Training Programme this will be used against the remaining balance.  Please note no refunds will be given for unsuccessful applications.

Selection Day

On this day you will be required to complete a theoretical exam, a practical assessment and a classroom based evaluation.  Depending on your area of expertise, your theoretical paper will assess you on your theoretical knowledge of either Teaching Swimming or Coaching Swimming.  Please prepare for this, taking into consideration your delivery as a tutor will require you to have knowledge above and beyond that of Level 1 and Level 2 Teaching or Coaching Swimming.

Offer to attend Tutor Training Programme

Following the Selection Day, the results of your theoretical paper, practical assessment and evaluation will be reviewed by a panel and prospective tutors that meet the criteria of the panel will be offered a place on the Swim Ireland Tutor Training Programme. All candidates will be advised by 6.00pm 12th April if they have been successful.  Candidates will then be required to confirm and make full payment by Friday 26th April. 

Please be aware that all those wishing to be part of the Tutor Training Programme must be able to attend 100% of the training and if full payment is not received by 12.00pm Friday 20^th April, the place on the course will be forfeited.
