EBS Swimming Club Whitakers are Swim Ireland's Smartest Family!
March 06, 2021
Congratulations to the 40 families who made it to the Swim Ireland's Smartest Family Final, won on Friday night by The Whitakers from ESB Swimming Club!
Hosted by Olympian Andrew Bree and fellow former international swimmers Bethany Carson and Grainne Murphy, the final was livestreamed on Swim Ireland's YouTube, where 104 viewers saw The Byrnes family from Glenalbyn Masters take the early lead.
However, The Whitakers were already in second position then and stormed to the top of the leaderboard before halfway in the 40-question thriller.
Having qualified from the Leinster Regional Qualifier in fourth place, The Whitakers were not favourites to make the final podium, but showed great improvement to hold their first position and earn the title Swim Ireland's Smartest Family.
A peak of 121 fans tuned in to watch their success as they walked away with our top prize, a €1,000 voucher for Center Parcs Ireland.
With a late charge, The Deasys from Sundays Well Swimming Club took second, perhaps making that ground in the Disney Movies round, along with The Mooneys from Tuam Swimming Club who took third, ensuring three different provinces filled the Smartest Family podium.
The Deasys were rewarded for their braininess with a €500 voucher for Swimkit.ie and some Swim Kapes, and The Mooneys landed €250 to spend at Tayto Park. Hopefully all three families have some better times to look forward to now, and our remaining finalists enjoyed two nights of great family fun!
