Tallaght Swim Team is back in the water over five weeks. Thanks to the help of Swim Ireland and our home training facility, we have managed to ensure Return to Water equality across all squads and ages.
We have 12 sessions up and running, with 55 swimmers availing of what Tallaght are calling their Summer20 programme, which runs up until the end of August.
Tallaght Swim Team is a family. Paraic Kenny, head coach, said: "Seeing happy, smiling faces ready for each new session, I found swimmers have a new passion, a new appreciation for the sport they missed during lockdown."
We have a Lead COVID-19 Officer, who manages through a designated email address the processing of the COVID-19 Screening forms and communication to the POD & Coach before every session. An entry and exit protocol for all swimmers, maintaining the 2m distance in and out of the water, is adhered to, and every parent has completed the online COVID-19 training to do their bit for the club.
For four Tallaght Swim Team swimmers, like many others around the country, the return to water has been extra helpful, as awaiting Leaving Certificate results this year is extra pressure - swimming allows them the opportunity to train, reigniting their love of the sport and assisting their mental health.
During lockdown, Tallaght Swim Team maintained communication through fun engagement with the swimmers, and a video message of encouragement was sent by two great NCD Swimmers, Niamh Coyne and Brendan Hyland, which really served to highlight that we are all in this together.
