Seven Coaches Embark Upon NCD Mentorship
December 09, 2020
This week, Swim Ireland welcome seven female coaches into National Centre Dublin (NCD) for a 3-month mentorship, delivered under Swim Ireland’s Women in Sport Programme, funded by Sport Ireland.
These coaches will gain insight into the work, processes and plans delivered in the Centre within the run up to the 2020 Irish Open Championships - Olympic and Paralympic Trials and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Coaches will be on deck with various training groups including the full-time athlete programme, F4-24 and Project LA.
Swim Ireland were delighted to see so many applicants for the mentorship and so the online element has been opened to all who applied. This involves three online introductory sessions with National Head Coach Ben Higson focusing on training models, strategies and key learnings.
The NCD coaching staff are excited to embrace the ambitious coaches into the programme to develop their coaching knowledge and confidence, he commented
“The mentorship programme is a fantastic opportunity for this group of coaches. The programme aims to provide experience and will take a rounded approach to developing coaching skills & furthering knowledge”
Swim Ireland look forward to watching the progress of the ambitious bunch and have no doubt that they can take this experience and learnings back to their home clubs.
