2021 Irish National Team Trials

The 2021 Irish National Team Trials for the 2021 International Summer Meets, including the Tokyo 2021 Olympic and Paralympic Games took place in National Aquatic Centre, Dublin from April 20-24.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this event was limited to swimmers able to be categorised as elite. But despite this limitation, the event still produced powerful performances.

Four FINA 'A' times were achieved, with Darragh Greene, Shane Ryan, Mona McSharry and Daniel Wiffen earning those Olympic Consideration Times for the Tokyo 2021 Games.

Across the five days, 12 Irish Records were set, signalling a huge summer for Irish swimming.

The 2020 Irish Winter Meet took place at the National Aquatic Centre, Dublin from Thursday, 17th to Sunday, 20th December.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, entries were limited to Swim Ireland members representing a Swim Ireland club, who were able to be categorised as elite.

It was also run in an unusual format, with 25m heats in the morning, followed by 50m finals in the afternoon - and there were no spectators.

Despite these changes, the 2020 Irish Winter Meet saw Irish swimmers set nine new national records.
